There are lots of exciting events happening in the heart of Birmingham city centre throughout 2018.

The celebs and their professional dances have been confirmed for the live tour, which is coming to Birmingham soon.

Gemma Atkinson and Aljaž Skorjanec, Alexandra Burke and Gorka Marquez, Susan Calman and Kevin Clifton and Joe McFadden and Katya Jones will be there together with Debbie McGee and Giovanni Pernice, Jonnie Peacock and Oti Mabuse and Davood Ghadami and Nadiya Bychkova.

They will be joined by judges Craig Revel Horwood, Bruno Tonioli and Darcey Bussell and host Strictly Champion Ore Oduba.

World famous restaurant The Ivy is set to launch an upmarket brasserie and bar in Birmingham city centre in 2018.

The restaurant group has agreed a 25-year lease on the former Austin Reed and Louis Vuitton units on Temple Row and promise to open a restaurant that “brings the familiar luxury of The Ivy”.

Wicked – a re-imagining of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz – has won more than 100 international awards and continues to break records at London’s Apollo Victoria Theatre, where it is already the 17th longest running show in West End theatre history.

It tells the story of an unlikely but profound friendship between two young women who first meet as sorcery students and go on to fulfil their destinies as Glinda The Good and the Wicked Witch of the West.

There will be a new walkthrough discovery attraction at Sea Life in Spring 2018.

The Piranha Tunnel will give visitors the chance to get face to tooth with a pack of the predators amidst a tropical rainforest.

And, new for Easter 2018, will be Jelly Invaders – giving guests the opportunity to dive in to a world of slime, stingers, and brainless jelly in a brand new exhibit.

This free festival is returning for its third year to celebrate all things Hip-Hop.

There will be a weekend takeover of dance and rap battles, live music, workshops and graffiti in the streets around the theatre.

The Natural History Museum’s famous Diplodocus, known as Dippy, is taking a road trip – and you’ll be able to see him for free in Birmingham.

You will, however, need a ticket and advanced booking is strongly advised as this is likely to be a very popular exhibition.

The full skeleton cast in its displayed pose is an impressive 21.3 metres long, 4.3 metres wide and 4.25 metres high. There is also an opportunity to Dine with Dippy at a shared dinner party on June 7 and 14.

This is the city’s biggest free-entry food and drink festival.

Birmingham celebrity chef Glynn Purnell helped launch the 2017 event before hosting cookery demos on the Kitchen Stage.

Details have not yet been revealed but the event usually attracts more than 30,000 visitors and prides itself on offering taster dishes for around £4 each, giving people the chance to experience Brum’s world cuisine at its best.

The Grade II-listed former Birmingham and Midland Skin Hospital building in John Bright Street, will be reopening as a Rock City bar, similar to the famous Nottingham venue.

There will be a full programme of live music and club nights.

Pink Floyd’s Roger Waters is bringing his critically-acclaimed show Us + Them to Birmingham as part of his European tour this summer.

Birmingham is getting its own LEGOLAND® Discovery Centre in 2018.

The main entrance will boast a huge LEGO giraffe - just like the exterior of LEGOLAND in Berlin.

There will be 10 themed LEGO play zones, a Build and Test area and a 4D cinema at the 58,900 square-foot centre.

Planned theme rides include Kingdom Quest and Merlin’s Apprentice and the entrance to the Kingdom Quest is set to look like a castle complete with balconies, flags, knights and jesters.

The National Theatre’s acclaimed play War Horse returns to Birmingham following eight record-breaking years in London’s West End and having played in 11 countries around the world to over seven million people.

Based on Michael Morpurgo’s novel, this moving drama features life-sized horses by South Africa’s Handspring Puppet Company, who bring breathing, galloping, charging horses thrilling to life on stage.

There’s also music and songs which takes audiences on a journey from the fields of rural Devon to the trenches of First World War France.

Matt Slack is returning to Birmingham for the 2018 Hippodrome.
