Albion have been put on red-alert after Odion Ighalo told his representatives that he’s willing to move back to the Premier League this month.

The 28-year-old former Watford striker was a Baggies target last season but decided on a move to China instead.

He is currently playing for Changchun Yatai but has a release clause in his contract, believed to be £20m.

Albion are looking for a new striker and could consider the hitman in the weeks ahead.

The Baggies will wait to see whether some of their other targets come off, first.

A whole host of strikers have been linked already and Alan Pardew knows he needs more firepower to keep the club in the Premier League.

Striker search

West Brom have reportedly made a late bid to try and steal West Ham striker Diafra Sakho from a Premier League rival.

It was thought Crystal Palace would wrap up a deal for Sakho, who came close to joining the Baggies two years ago.

However, The Daily Mail claims the Albion have made a late bid, along with Newcastle United, in an attempt to land him again.

It is no secret Alan Pardew is looking for firepower at West Brom, with the likes of Danny Ings and Troy Deeney linked in the January transfer window.

Sakho has struggled for goals at West Ham in the two years since the Baggies were linked with spending as much as £15 million on him.

It is thought his value is now closer to the £10 million mark.

Transfer rumour: West Brom chasing Arsenal defender

Crystal Palace seemed set to sign the Senegalese striker earlier today (Thursday), with reports suggesting that a fee had been agreed between the two clubs and that a medical was taking place.

However, it would appear there will be a battle for the 28-year-old, who has scored four goals in 17 appearances so far this season for the Hammers.

Newcastle, like West Brom, have previously been linked with the former Metz man.

Other West Brom transfer news

Calum Chambers is in demand by West Brom, according to reports.

It is claimed Pardew wants the Arsenal defender as part of any deal that would see Jonny Evans move to the Emirates Stadium.

Chambers, 22, moved to the Gunners from Southampton in 2014 for a fee rising to £16m, having made his first-team debut against Albion for the Saints on the opening day of the 2013-14 campaign.

The centre-back, who can also operate at right-back, was in the spotlight at The Hawthorns on New Year’s Eve when he was penalised for a handball from Kieran Gibbs’ cross - a spot-kick that Jay Rodriguez converted.

Alan Pardew will be looking to add new faces to his West Brom squad this month, and the bookies believe he will be one of the busiest bosses.

Albion are being tipped to be the THIRD busiest team out of all the Premier League clubs according to the bookmakers.

The Baggies boss has admitted that the team needs fresh faces to spark a revival in their bid to improve their league position.
