Footage has emerged of Aston Villa fans fighting amongst themselves during the defeat to Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux.

Video posted on social media shows Villa supporters having to be separated from each other during their club's 2-0 loss to new Championship leaders Wolves.

In the film, punches appear to be thrown and there is pushing and shoving as tempers boil over among the claret and blue contingent located in the lower tier of the Steve Bull Stand.

Stewards and police arrived to pull fans apart during the trouble.

The footage, recorded by a Wolves fan in the level above, was posted to the Away Day Bible Facebook page .

Villa took around 2,700 away fans to Molineux. The attendance of 30,239 was the largest Wolves crowd since 1981.

Second-half goals from Diogo Jota and Leo Bonatini lifted Wolves above Cardiff City at the top of the Championship and ended a four-match winning run for seventh placed Villa.
