Gaetan Bong has accused Jay Rodriguez of "unforgivable" words in the alleged fall out that has been reported to the Football Association.

The exchange is said to have happened during West Bromwich Albion's Premier League victory over Brighton and Hove Albion at The Hawthorns.

Bong took to Twitter on Saturday evening to write: "Some words should not be said on a football field and specially not by players Rodriguez words are unforgivable for the man I am!!

Rodriguez has been reported to the FA for allegedly verbally abusing the Seagulls defender.

The pair exchanged words after they were involved in a flare up during the second half.

Referee Martin Atkinson consulted fourth official Tony Harrington, but was happy to allow play to continue without punishing Rodriguez.

It’s not yet clear if Atkinson was made fully aware of the allegations Bong has made or the exact nature of the alleged offence.

Both club's managers were asked about the alleged flashpoint after the match.

“There’s been an allegation made by the Brighton full-back to the referee and that allegation will go to the FA,” Baggies boss Alan Pardew.

“I haven’t seen the incident. But knowing Jay Rodriguez I find it very difficult to understand if I’m honest that there has been an allegation of any kind.

“We’ll have to wait and see. I don’t know, it’s been directed straight to the referee.

“Jay Rodriguez claims the allegation is untrue.”

Brighton boss Chris Hughton also spoke about the alleged incident.

He said: "Bong has reported Jay Rodriguez for something that was said to him.

"It's being handled correctly by the ref. He's aware of the allegation and that will go through to the FA.

"It was dealt with in the correct manner. There's allegations made against Jay Rodriguez.

"The nature of those will be made clear by the FA. It was something said to him and it is being dealt with in the correct manner."
