Aston Villa pair Steve Bruce and Sam Johnstone have been overlooked as Manager and Player of the Month for September.
Bristol City’s Lee Johnson took the manager’s award after steering the Robins to six unbeaten games and 14 points - exactly the same return as Bruce.
Villa have won their last four in the league and are on an eight-match undefeated run.
Preston’s Alex Neil and Norwich’s Daniel Farke were also nominated.
George Burley, who chairs the Manager of the Month judging panel, explained.
“Lee has managed to balance sturdy resilience with attacking flair, culminating in a side who finished the month with the best goal difference in the Sky Bet Championship."
The Players’ award also went to Ashton Gate with Aden Flint winning ahead of the Villa goalkeeper and Diogo Jota and James Maddison.
Flint rebounded with a series of dominant performances despite having an unsettling August when he was extensively linked with a move away, with Birmingham City interested.
