As the deadline fast approaches for primary applications - today we can bring you the most comprehensive guide to schools across our region.

The Real Schools Guide 2018 - compiled by Trinity Mirror's data unit - aims to give a far more comprehensive picture than traditional league tables.

It takes into account 44 different data points, including not just KS2 results but factors like progress, pupil-teach ratios and absence rates.

Parents can browse the data, compare different schools, find links to contact details and recent Ofsted reports.

This year's results put Oakham Primary School, Sandwell, on top as the best school in the region.

In second place is Manor Primary School, in Wolverhampton, while third is St John Bosco Catholic Primary School, Sandwell.

In Birmingham, the best rated school was Christ Church C of E Primary School and Nursery.
