Emporium will close on January 19.

"Until then, we will be open as usual and we hope you will visit for a final opportunity to come and browse our beautiful and eclectic collection of original artwork created by our wonderful gallery artists.

"Thank you for your tremendous support, encouragement, friendship and custom over the last five and a half years, we have enjoyed every moment and hope this is adieu and not goodbye.

"If you are signed up to our mailing list then you will be the first to hear of our new adventures - so watch this space!"

It is understood that the Bird Street premises will now be marketed by chartered surveyors and commercial property agents Burley Brown.
